Update 6th June 2022; There is some good news for the participants in Masters World Cup Tokyo. The Japanese government announced recently to ease entry conditions for visitors to Japan as follows:
All visitors from Blue Category countries (which includes all currently registered World Cup countries) no longer need to show a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or take a PCR test at the Japanese airport to enter Japan..
Also, all visitors from Blue Category countries no longer need to do quarantine after entering Japan.
However current rules still require all travelers to Japan to have a negative PCR certificate acquired within 72 hours of departure of their home country.
The Japanese government classifies countries into three categories: Blue, Yellow and Red, in accordance with their state of COVID-19 infection. Visitors from countries other than Blue are subject to quarantine for a certain number of days after entrance. For your information, these countries are included in the Blue Category: Australia, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, USA, Great Britain (including England, Scotland, Wales), Ireland, Italy, Belgium, and South Africa. Countries which initially showed interest in participation in Tokyo but are not yet registered, including New Zealand, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, France, and Nigeria, are also all in the Blue Category. These countries from the Blue category no longer need to show a vaccination certificate, and so need not worry about how many times, and which vaccines they received.
If Alliance includes participants from any countries not listed above, please let us know which country, and we will advise which category they belong to.
Please note however that all visitors must still obtain a visa to enter Japan. As we advised before, visas for all World Cup participants will be organized for you using the Japanese government’s ERFS system.
We will advise you on how to apply for this visa soon.
Visitors who come to Japan for the Masters World Cup on the ERFS Visa will also be allowed to travel in Japan before and after the World Cup tournament. We just ask that visitors take proper precautions against the spread of COVID such as always wearing a mask on public transport, and in crowded indoor venues.
We are looking forward to meeting everyone at the World Cup Tokyo in October!
